MY FOUR FAVOURITE QUOTES AND WHY THEY APPEAL TO ME!
Updated: Aug 29, 2019
There is so much going on at the moment with my work and my life that I have not had a lot of time to write so this week I though I would take inspiration from a few of my favourite mentors and share their wisdom with you! This week I have picked a few of my favourite quotes from inspirational and successful people and explained why I like them so much....enjoy!
1. By Land, they are not making it anymore - Mark Twain
I have always believed that land is the best investment when it comes to property. If you have a block of land in a good city where there is high demand it will always be a valuable asset! Mark Twain (author and creator of Huckleberry Fin and Tom Sawyer) saw the same trend almost 200 years ago. Imagine if our ancestors had followed his advice what that portfolio would be worth today!
2. Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm - Winston Churchill
For those of you who do not know, Winston Churchill was the prime minister of the UK during WWII and it was his resolve and actions that helped the allies win the war. His career was built in one of the darkest parts of European history and he had constant failures and roadblocks before finally achieving victory. I believe perseverance is one of the most important qualities an entrepreneur can have! The difference between those of us who succeed and those who fail is simply not giving up!
3. For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness - Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote from America Philosopher and Lecturer Ralph Waldo Emerson really highlights an incredibly important fact that I have only learned in recent years. There is very little point in losing your temper regardless of the situation. Even if you have every right to be angry it very rarely achieves anything and will usually leave you feeling worse off afterwards! I am embarrassed to to say that as a young adult I was extremely hot-headed and would fly off the handle multiple times a day upsetting myself and probably a whole host of other people. Life is so much easier and more pleasant if we can all just relax and let things slide.
4. Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right - Henry Ford
Henry Ford was a truly incredible man and he has so many great quotes that I could include here but this one is definitely my favourite. It really speaks for itself, your success is in your head. If you think you can be an entry level worker and that is the extent of it then you will never reach for anything else and you will always stay in that position. Perhaps you believe you are capable of management, you will probably achieve it. If you can see yourself in a position and you are willing to work for it then the sky is the limit!
Thanks so much for reading this week!
